Tempeh is an Indonesian food made by fermenting soybeans. It has a slightly nutty flavor and a firm texture similar to meat.

Unlike many soy products which only use part of the soybean, tempeh uses the whole bean. This gives tempeh some nutritional advantages such as a higher fiber content. The fermentation process also helps with digestion.

Preparation:

Tempeh sometimes has a slightly bitter taste. The bitterness can be reduced by boiling tempeh in water for about 10 minutes before cooking it with your other ingredients.

Next, use the tempeh as you would meat. Add it to a stir-fry, or saute it in a little bit of oil or sauce and put it in a sandwich or taco.

You can also marinate tempeh beforehand for extra flavor
